Disability North Events

The Disability North Marketing and Events Team work to raise money to support the key functions of Disability North and also promote the charity. We organise and provide information on forthcoming events and training courses, manage external events and organise DNEX, our annual independent living exhibition.

DNEX 2016

September 21st and 22nd 2016, Newcastle Racecourse.

The North’s largest annual independent living event will take place on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd September 2016 at Newcastle Racecourse and will open daily at 10:00 A.M. DNEX is hosted by Disability North- a leading disability resource in the North East and Cumbria. 2016 marks the 30th DNEX exhibition.

DNEX consists chiefly of an independent living exhibition. It is a must- attend event and there is something for everyone including digital technology, aids and adaptations for independent living and accessible leisure facilities. This free exhibition provides information, advice and equipment for disabled people, older adults, carers and health and social care professionals on a range of disability related issues.

In an exciting new development, DNEX 2016 will be co-located for the first time with Disabled Living Foundation's (DLF) Moving & Handling People North: the two-day CPD-accredited learning event for healthcare professionals.

An interesting and diverse seminar schedule runs concurrent to the exhibition with an exciting range of speakers.

Free public shuttle bus transport provided.

Disability North Annual Dinner (with special speaker Derek Redmond)

07:00 P.M., September 21st 2016, Newcastle Racecourse

The Disability North Annual Dinner provides the perfect opportunity for those working across the disability sector to celebrate another year of commitment to independence and empowerment and support the charity Disability North.

We are delighted to announce that our Annual Dinner speaker this year is inspirational athlete and passionate speaker Derek Redmond.

Derek Redmond went down in Olympic history during the 1992 Barcelona games; suffering a torn hamstring half way through the 400m semi-final Redmond continued to limp to race, eventually assisted over the line with the support of his father. An image which has been immortalised within the games and shows a divine sense of courage, determination and a never say die attitude, Redmond still carries these values into his role as a speaker.

Please join us to enjoy a 3-course meal and drinks reception in a prestigious suite at Newcastle Racecourse along with our fantastic speaker. This special evening offers you the chance to show your support for us tickets are £30 per person or £300 for a table of ten.

Secure your place at our annual dinner within the North’s largest independent living event by following the Paypal link below or email Caitlin Hunter at CaitlinHunter@disabilitynorth.org.uk to find out more about booking your place.
