Disability North Events
The Disability North Marketing and Events Team work to raise money to support the key functions of Disability North and also promote the charity. We organise and provide information on forthcoming events and training courses, manage external events and organise DNEX, our annual independent living exhibition.
The Disability North Christmas Market 2016
Following the success of last year's Christmas Market, Disability North are pleased to announce that this year, The Christmas Market will be taking place on Saturday November 26th at Deneview School, just next door to Disability North. The school will provide a bigger and more accessible venue, so that all of our visitors can enjoy a festive day out meeting Santa Claus and shopping for the perfect Christmas gift among our variety of local traders.
The International Day of Disabled People 2016
On Saturday 3 December, Disability North will be holding an event in honour of the United Nation’s International Day of Disabled People. Hosted at the Gateshead Leisure Centre, the gathering will be a celebration of the services, facilities and projects in the region that promote inclusion and access for disabled people. The theme of this year’s International Day event is sport with the aim of to promoting diversity and inclusion in sport and the many health benefits of an active lifestyle. The event will be host to an array of speakers and participatory activities, including presentations by Gateshead Special Olympics, Boccia trial sessions, Zumba and more.

DNEX 2016/ Moving & Handling People North
DNEX 2016 was held in partnership with Moving & Handling People North: The 2-day CPD-accredited event for healthcare professionals at Newcastle Racecourse on September 21st and 22nd. It was opened by Metro Radio DJ Alan Robson.

Disability North Annual Dinner 2016
Disability North celebrated another year of empowerment for disabled people across the region at our Annual Dinner on the evening of September 21st at Newcastle Racecourse. Guests enjoyed a stunning musical performance at our drinks reception from The Glass Orchestra segment of The Lawnmower's Independent Theatre Company for learning disabled adults, before a 3-course meal.
The meal was followed by a topical speech from Jane Hartley, Chief Executive of The Voluntary Organisation's Network North East, as well as a captivating documentary by Ruth Abrahams MBE, trustee of Disability North, describing her life as a disabled person. The evening closed with a raffle.
Thank you to all of our guests, performers and speakers who made The Disability North Annual Dinner a fantastic, entertaining evening.
