Take on the Tyne for Disability North
Are you feeling competitive? Are you looking for a team challenge? Then why not, ‘Take on the Tyne’ with Disability North's brand new fundraising challenge; a competitive paddle boat race from Newburn Leisure Centre which is due to take place in April 2010.

Disability North is looking for up to 30 local North East companies to enter a team of 10 to ‘Take on the Tyne’. The registration fee will be £10 per person and sponsorship will be £500 per team.

No experience is necessary for racing on the 200m course, which will run from the White House next to Newburn Leisure Centre to the Newburn Bridge.

Clare Savory, Marketing & Events Officer said: “This is going to be a fantastic family day out and a great team building exercise for local North East companies. We feel it will be a very competitive day, with all companies wanting that first prize trophy and the title of ‘Take on the Tyne champion of 2010’.”

Groups of three boats will race against the clock in the heats and the fastest will go through to the semi-finals. The fastest boats from the semi-finals will then race each other in the final to win.

The event will be a fantastic family day out, with face painting, bouncy castles and archery. It is a day not to be missed.

An accessible speed boat, which can accommodate up to two wheelchair users, will also be available to cruise down the River Tyne.

Due to tide times, we are unable to release the exact date of the event until December; however the event will take place in April 2010.  If you would like to register your interest in the event, please contact Clare Savory at Disability North or email her by This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
