| UK Disabled People’s Council Launches Snap Shot Report on Targeted Hostility |
|
The UK Disabled People’s Council (UKDPC) is pleased to announce the launch of our latest report on targeted hostility towards disabled people. This Snap Shot Report is the first of two reports that highlights the urgency and need to tackle all forms of hate crime against disabled people.
London, 19th July, 2010 – The UKDPC Snap Shot Report highlights targeted hostility towards disabled people in the UK. UKDPC believes such attacks against disabled people are increasing at a time of recession, and huge social and political change. This report focuses on hate crimes carried out within a period of three months and has been submitted to the EHRC as part of a formal Inquiry into disability related harassment. The Report was developed in direct response the rise of targeted hostility towards disabled people. UKDPC feels it is vital that statutory organisations play a more central and active part in tackling all forms of hate crime suffered by disabled people throughout the United Kingdom.
Anne Novis, UKDPC Trustee, explains why this Report is critical to securing improved rights and justice for all disabled people: |
