PA Vacancy

Care Assistant (PA/Forest Hall)

Care Assistant required (PA/Forest Hall)

Forest Hall, NE12

£9.50 per hour

16 hours per week (‪10am-1pm Monday to ‪Thursday, 10am-2pm Friday)

Additional hours may become available once the role is established in addition to extended hours being discussed with regards to sickness, holiday and emergency cover.

A Care Assistant is required by a married, family man (40s), who has lived with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for 20 years, and who is now quadriplegic.

An individual is needed to assist my full-time Personal Assistant in all areas of my personal, domestic, and social needs.

The role will involve acting as a “second pair of hands” in my daily routine of showering, dressing, grooming, the administration of medication, catheter and stoma care, eating and drinking etc. as well as taking responsibility for the domestic care and presentation of my home (single bedroom bungalow).

It is essential that applicants understand as my condition can vary on a day-to-day basis, the ratio of personal care: domestic care will likewise change depending on my specific needs at any point in time.  As such, the successful candidate must be able to appreciate the value in both sides of the role and be capable of providing an exceptional level of performance in each area.

Care experience is preferred but not essential as professional training will be given in any areas that are needed.

The successful applicant will be flexible, highly motivated, and capable of maintaining a high level of professionalism, while working in an incredibly casual environment, often under their own direction.  A sense of humour is essential.

Importantly, the candidate must be comfortable around dogs (or ideally be a “doggy person”) as I have two slightly mad, easily excited, but very loving Tibetan terriers.
