Direct Payments Admin Assistant and Information Officer

My role is split between providing administration support to the Direct Payments Support Team and the role of a Direct Payments Information Officer.

I co-ordinate the recruitment process for Personal Assistant vacancies for Direct Payment Service Users by placing the adverts with relevant agencies and deal with requests for Application Forms from candidates.  This also includes maintenance of the Personal Assistant vacancies on the Disability North website and the co-ordination of the completed Application Forms on behalf of the employers.

I provide information, advice and support on issues relating to Direct Payments to disabled people, social services staff and others, this may be over the phone or face to face.  This can include information, advice and support on becoming an employer, advertising, recruiting and assistance in the recruitment and selection process if requested by the Service User.

I am involved in the registration of Direct Payment Service Users with Pension Providers in line with the recent changes to pension provision.  This involves arranging monthly pension workshops and any follow up activity and registration.

Something not many people know about me :
I used to play cornet in the City Youth Brass Band (a long time ago!)  Our speciality was Glenn Miller music, which I still have a soft spot for.
