Disability North is a Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) working across the North East of England.
We believe in a fair, inclusive society where disabled people have equal choice, control and opportunity. With 75% of our Trustees and 62% of our staff having lived experience, our work is shaped by real understanding. Our mission is to support disabled people with clear, practical advice and to challenge barriers that limit independence, inclusion and rights.
Disability North was established more than 50 years ago as the Newcastle Council for Disabled People

Our team includes people with lived experience of disability who understand the realities of navigating care, support and independence. We work with compassion, honesty and respect, using our knowledge, expertise and experience to support our community and ensure that every person feels heard and valued.
