Female Support Worker Wanted – North Shields (Newcastle FC fan welcome!)

Are you caring, reliable and up for a role that actually makes someone’s day? We’re looking for a Support Worker to help a lovely lady in North Shields with her daily routine and to get out into the community.

About the role

You’ll be helping with everyday activities such as:

  • Getting up in the morning
  • Supporting with admin tasks
  • Assistance with toileting and showering
  • Helping with an ankle brace and getting dressed
  • Making breakfast
  • Light housework
  • Supporting community access — appointments, shopping, local trips

And yes… you’ll probably be the person she cheers on Newcastle United with!

I am looking for someone who is softly spoken, kind, and has a calming nature. You will need to have an understanding of neurodivergence and experience working with neurodivergent (ND) people, as well as individuals with mental health issues. Patience and a sense of humour are essential, as you will be supporting not only me but also my two ND children and our small dog. 

You must be able to drive an automatic car and hold a full UK driving licence, as driving will be part of the role. Being comfortable with dogs is important, as our dog is an integral part of our family. Flexibility is key to this position, as our needs can vary daily, and we will rely on you to adapt to changing situations. 

Your responsibilities will include attending art/yoga, assisting with domestic tasks, shopping for items that can’t be sourced online. You will also help with showering support, decluttering the home, and cooking. Contingency hours will be needed to accommodate appointments and other unexpected needs. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Attend art/yoga classes for mental well-being

  • Assist with cooking and meal preparation

  • A full UK driving licence and experience driving automatic cars 
  • Comfortable around dogs and able to provide care as needed 
  • Flexibility to adjust to family schedules

Location: North Shields

Hours: Flexibility for 15 to 20 hours per week, predominantly Monday to Friday with work hours between 8am and 4pm.

Rate Of Pay: £13.50 per hour

 

The role will be to support a neurodivergent parent, in their early 30s with a nursery aged child.

No personal hygiene care involved with this role.

The role requires assisting with timekeeping and organising daily routine, managing household cleaning, ensuring medication is taken and meals are planned, prepared and occasional assistance with cooking.

The role will be to facilitate and provide support in leaving the house, especially with nursery attendance, shopping and appointments.

Work hours to be focused on morning nursery drop-off support, with a once-per-week Wednesday 4pm finish to assist with workplace attendance, this can involve split-shift and coordinating with successful employees availability.

Previous experience with Autism or ADHD is ideal but candidates with understanding and a friendly, organised personality is most important.

A full driving licence is desirable.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS application. This will be funded by the employer.
