Job Title: Teaching Assistant/ Tutor/ Personal Assistant
Hours: Negotiable, minimum of 10 hours per week
Hourly Rate: minimum £12.00 per hour and will depend on qualifications and experience.
Area: Lemington, Newcastle upon Tyne
We are looking for an experienced TA/PA/Tutor to join our team. Ideally to start work straight away, initially working short term up till the summer holidays, term time during typical school hours but could be extra shifts during school holidays if you wanted them. Initially it will be 2 x 5hour shifts per week but this is negotiable. Its initially a part time role and I’m open to discuss hours, days and rates of pay depending on experience. We try to be as flexible as possible with our team of staff understanding that their lives can often be as busy as ours. There is the possibility that the role will continue in September we are just trying to agree the funding.
The role is to support our son who is currently educated from home. Our son is 11 years old but due to his complex needs he is learning at EYFS and lower National curriculum levels. He has a very spikey profile with regards to his education levels and ability to engage in learning. He is also demand avoidant so experience and understanding of how to work with and support children with similar profiles is essential.

Must have an understanding of working with children who are neurodiverse and those that have suffered trauma and who are demand avoidant and be able to support them using trauma informed practice and strategies already in place,
Must be able to work under direction of parents (who will be the employer) and other professionals,
Must be able to work as part of a team,
Must be happy to work outdoors in all weathers as this is often where my son does his best learning,
Must be able to follow my son’s direction and support with learning around his own interests and adapt as needed,
Must be confident in delivering SALT and OT strategies, full training will be given,
Most important thing is you must have a good sense of humour (my son thinks he’s hilarious), be willing to think outside of the box when it comes to delivering learning and getting him to engage, be physically fit as trampolines, horse riding and fairground rides are regular parts of his week and be willing and open minded to learn new ways of working.
