Female Social Personal Assistant – PJNCL

Hours: 2 hours per week term time and 10 hours per week school holidays to include some weekend work and cover for holidays and sickness.

Area: Scotswood, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Rate: ÂŁ16.50 per hour

Penelope or “Nelly” as she like to be known is a lovely sassy, livewire little girl with several complex needs, she lives with her mum and siblings and their dog Dolly in Scotswood, Newcastle. This is a very busy household with lots of after school activities and events.  Nelly loves dancing and music and loves time on her iPad or attending training sessions with her siblings who both compete in their chosen sports.

Nelly has CPVT which is a life-threatening heart abnormality which requires specialist medical support and Nelly is scheduled for heart surgery in the future. Nelly always carries a defibrillator with her, so as her PA you would require training or already have relevant experience in operating such equipment which would need to be demonstrated.  Nelly always wears specialist sunglasses due to her having photophobia where the sunlight causes her issues, she also has a diagnosis of ADHD and autism with learning difficulties and can present with some challenging behaviour due to this, if she is overstimulated or not regulated. Experience of working with children with Autism is required. Nelly takes medication for her medical needs, and this is managed by her mum.

Nelly is looking for a Social Personal Assistant to assist and accompany her to utilise the local community and enjoy her chosen activities. Nelly requires permanent supervision as she has no sense of danger and will take risks. A car driver is preferred as Nelly enjoys trips out in the car and it helps regulate her. There is no personal or domestic care in this role.

A good level of fitness will be required for this position as you would be required to use a specialist pushchair for outings if Nelly required this.

DBS checks and references required.
