Communication Support Worker with British Sign Language Level 3

Rate: £16.63 per hour

Hours: Mon – Fri, 8.30am – 3.30pm

Area: Boroughbridge

5.6 weeks holiday pro-rata.

A full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle essential

 

Full time Communication Support Worker/Personal Assistant for an friendly, sociable young lady with learning disabilities. You must be active and like the outdoors, supporting at home, and during activities and outings.

This is a very rewarding role supporting a young person, who likes to share in activities and experiences.

Additional care support during outings, your primary role will be to support with communication.

 

You will need:

British Sign Language Level 3 or above or with BSL as a first language. You must be able to speak clearly and use Sign Supported English. The young person is hearing and has good understanding but uses BSL.

Experience in providing high quality and responsive support for young adults with additional needs, including autism.

A full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle, we live in a rural area close to the A1.

You must be able to keep up with an active young lady.

 

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the holder of this post to be male/female in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraphs 1 – 4.

Hours: Alternate weekends, Saturday and Sunday 8.30 am – 4.00pm.  A finish time of 6.00pm is available if further hours are required. 5.6 weeks holiday pro-rata.

British Sign Language Level 1 or above. Although further study is not a requirement, funding can be provided to study BSL Level 2 or 3, including 2 hours for study per week. The young person is hearing and has good understanding but uses BSL.
