🌟 Personal Assistant Wanted for a Brilliant 7-Year-Old Explorer! 🌟

Location: Denton Burn, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Hours: 7 hours (term time), 14 hours (non-term time) – flexible with the family
Pay: £14.50 per hour

Are you kind, calm, and up for a bit of fun? Do you enjoy trampolining, swimming, and the occasional quiet adventure? We’re looking for a fantastic Personal Assistant to support a happy, high-energy 7-year-old boy who loves the great outdoors – but not noisy crowds!

Our son is full of life and laughter, and once he builds trust, he’s a loyal and joyful little companion. He has autism and sensory processing needs, so he’s not a fan of busy or loud places – but he thrives in quiet, predictable environments and LOVES his favourite routines (especially a visit to the Tim Lamb Centre, a bounce at the trampoline park, or a swim).

Over time, and with your help and our support, we’d love to gently explore new activities together, always at his pace.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting communication using PECS and social stories
  • Encouraging and joining in with his favourite activities
  • Keeping him safe and feeling secure while out and about
  • Building a trusting, meaningful relationship with him – and us

What We’re Looking For:

  • A driver (essential – you’ll need to get to and from activities)
  • Someone with experience supporting children with autism
  • A patient, kind person who can keep things calm, clear and predictable
  • Someone who values consistency and is committed to building trust

Why This Role is Special:

You’ll be making a real difference to a young boy’s world, helping him grow his confidence, explore safely, and have fun being himself. We’ll be with you every step of the way as you get to know him – and we’ll celebrate every milestone together.

A DBS check and references are required.
Informal chats welcome before applying!

Car Driver Essential

My son is a happy lively 13-year-old boy who loves being outside and active in all weathers. He really enjoys going to the beach and parks, fairgrounds, theme parks, soft play, swimming, trampoline parks and doing anything that lets him get wet and messy.

The ideal candidate would be someone who likes to be active and enjoys being out and about and is conscientious with a good sense of humour.

The purpose of this job is to support my son who has been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. He is non=verbal and communicates by pointing or holding your hand. He still wears nappies so there will be personal care involved.

The role involves supporting my son so that he can take part in the activities in the community that he enjoys independently of myself. Knowledge or experience with Autistic Spectrum Disorder would be advantageous.

Ideally, mum would like a PA who is enthusiastic with a genuine interest and enjoyment in working with children and has some experience of working with disabled children.

A car driver in this role is essential and mileage will be reimbursed.

This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS check and references which will be taken up if you are offered the post.

Scarlett is a delightful, bubbly, full of energy 5-year-old little girl. She has Autism, Global Developmental Delay, Learning Disabilities and Sensory Processing Disorder. Scarlett is non-verbal and communicates using gestures and leading methods, she can become dysregulated if her needs are not understood and met adequately and in a timely manner for her, this can be a slight response or it can escalate to more challenging behaviours including hurting herself, but this not a regular occurrence. Distraction methods are used to regulate which include food and drink and keeping her in a safe space.

Scarlett is looking for a dedicated, experienced SEN personal assistant who can accompany her to activities that she enjoys, including swimming, trips to the local parks, Tim Lamb Centre sessions and The Alan Shearer Centre. She really enjoys sensory stimulating environments and particularly enjoys being outdoors.

Full supervision is always required as Scarlett will run off if unsupervised and has no sense of danger.
