Personal Assistant required to support a friendly lady, who due to ME and Fibromyalgia lives with chronic pain and fatigue, requires support with everyday tasks.  You will assist with getting up in the morning, support with getting dressed and showering in the mornings, preparing breakfast for her two children before they go to school and general household tasks.

You will prompt with medication and ensure she is safe and has fluids for the day until the lunch time call begins.  This will include tasks such as preparing lunch and household tasks as needed as well as prompting with medication.

As the hours are to be worked over 7 days a week, the hours can be split between 2 PAs.  You will be expected to provide sick and holiday cover.

Paul is a lovely gentleman who resides with his nana, he is looking to employ a personal assistant who will have a flexible approach to supporting him within the home and accessing the community.

Paul has a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia and Sensory Processing Disorder, he also has a phobia to germs and is quite clinical in his hand washing routines which have caused psoriasis.

Paul is fitted with a colostomy bag which requires changing and managing. Experience of managing colostomy bags would be advantageous to this role. Experience of working with ASD is essential.

Paul is a keen Lego and War Hammer fan and really enjoys building the models. He also enjoys spending time gaming online. Paul will on occasion venture to the shops to purchase Lego magazines and you would be expected to accompany him to such trips; you would also be required to accompany him to scheduled appointments and assist Paul in making appointments for himself. Paul will venture to the Metro Centre on occasions and enjoys a KFC or McDonalds on his outings.

As part of your role, you will be assisting Paul with personal care, including showering if he chooses and beard maintenance, Paul will require prompts with choosing appropriate clothing and dressing but will indicate if clothes are unsuitable due to him being uncomfortable.

Meal preparation will be included within your role, and the ability to coach and encourage Paul to prepare food himself will be required. You will assist and encourage Paul to complete online shopping orders to encourage his independence.

Some light domestic tasks may be required including, laundry and bed changing.

Car Driver essential as Paul cannot travel on public transport.

Training will be provided for the right applicant on colostomy care if necessary.

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support our daughter after school during term time and more flexibly during school holidays. This role involves personal care, engaging in fun and stimulating activities at home and in the community, and always ensuring her safety and well-being.

 

About our daughter:

She is a vibrant and energetic young girl who thrives on being active. She enjoys activities like swimming, horse riding, visiting soft play centres, and spending time outdoors. She also loves performing — singing, dancing, and reenacting scenes from her current favourite, Matilda.

She is autistic and has sensory processing disorder. She also has PICA and suspected ADHD, which can sometimes influence her behaviour. She has limited speech but communicates effectively in her own way. She has no sense of danger and requires close supervision, especially in the community, as she tends to run towards places of interest. Despite these challenges, she is a joy to be around, especially when supported by someone who understands her needs and can keep up with her energy.

Job Title: Male Personal Care Assistant

Permanent contract.

Full time position, or could be offered as two part time roles if necessary.

Salary: £33,150 (or pro-rata if offered on part time basis)

Location: Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne

 

Male Personal Care Assistant required to be part of a team of seven PA’s providing support for a delightful young man who is neurodivergent and is non-verbal.

Shifts will be a mixture of daytime and night time and will involve providing support both at home and going out into the community to access leisure activities.  Night shifts and day shifts in his home will be mostly on a 1:1 staffing basis. When accessing the community, you will be working on a 2:1 basis alongside another PA. Night shifts will be mostly waking nights.

Main duties will be providing support with all personal care, meal preparation, assistance with feeding, administering medication, all daily living tasks and ensuring his safety at all times, as well as engaging with him in activities to assist with his development and his wellbeing.

Community activities to be supported will include walks, bowling, museum visits, shopping, swimming, eating out.

A clean driving licence and access to a car is preferred but not essential.
