Personal Assistant required to support a friendly lady, who due to ME and Fibromyalgia lives with chronic pain and fatigue, requires support with everyday tasks.  You will assist with getting up in the morning, support with getting dressed and showering in the mornings, preparing breakfast for her two children before they go to school and general household tasks.

You will prompt with medication and ensure she is safe and has fluids for the day until the lunch time call begins.  This will include tasks such as preparing lunch and household tasks as needed as well as prompting with medication.

As the hours are to be worked over 7 days a week, the hours can be split between 2 PAs.  You will be expected to provide sick and holiday cover.

We are looking for a personal assistant to support out beautiful 5-year-old daughter, Maryam. We are looking for someone who can work alongside us as an extra pair of hands when we are out on social outings to allow us to be able to take all three of our children and keep them all safe.

 

About Maryam:

Maryam is a beautiful 5-year-old young girl, who lives at home with her parents and two sisters who are 8 and 10. Maryam loves to visit quiet environments which can include the park, swimming at the Alan Shearer Centre and generally being outdoors. At home she enjoys activities such as painting, reading books, playing with her teddies, water play and playing with playdough.

Maryam is autistic as well as having sensory disorder and PICCA. She is also nonverbal. She has no safety awareness so you will need to have awareness of her surroundings and always keep her safe while she is enjoying the activities she loves.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Personal Assistant for a lovely lady called “Betty” who has Alzheimer’s Dementia.

Betty lives with her husband who is her main carer, and they have a daughter who supports the couple and 3 sons who visit. The couple have been married over 50 years and have a great family support network – Betty used to enjoy walking and getting out in nature and was quite active before her diagnosis.

There will be light domestic tasks required including laundry and light household duties, Betty also requires full support with washing, showering, dressing, grooming, and maintaining hygiene due to cognitive impairment affecting sequencing, memory, and task initiation. She cannot recognise when she needs to complete personal care and becomes distressed without reassurance.

Betty can move independently but will require assistance and accompanying when manoeuvring to prevent risk from falls and disorientation. She always requires supervision.

You may be required to assist and prompt with eating and drinking to ensure Betty eats adequately and safely and aid in preparing meals.

You will be expected to interact with Betty and engage in activities she may want to explore; you must be able to demonstrate patience and kindness when Betty is trying to engage, and reassurance always is required.

You may be required to accompany Betty to appointments and assist in scheduling appointments/bookings that are required and you should be comfortable accessing the community should Betty decided she would like to access the community.

A driver would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • Singing (he’s a fantastic singer!)

Jamie enjoys structured activities with a clear purpose and thrives when he knows what’s happening and what to expect.

About Jamie’s Needs

Jamie is a sensitive child who can become dysregulated or upset in unfamiliar situations or when routines change. He needs someone who is willing to:

  • Take time to build trust and get to know him well
  • Anticipate triggers and support him to avoid distress
  • Provide calm reassurance, comfort, and redirection when needed

Jamie also:

  • Has limited awareness of danger, requiring close supervision at all times
  • Is partially toilet trained, but needs prompting and may require support with personal care
  • Wears pull-ups when out in the community

The Role

We are looking for a patient, energetic, and understanding Personal Assistant to support Jamie to safely access activities and enjoy his interests.

Duties will include:

  • Supporting Jamie with structured play and community activities
  • Providing consistent supervision to ensure his safety
  • Helping Jamie manage transitions and routines
  • Offering emotional support and reassurance when he becomes overwhelmed
  • Supporting with toileting and personal care as required

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Energetic and able to keep up with an active child
  • Kind, patient, and emotionally aware
  • Understanding of Autism (or willing to learn)
  • Able to provide structure and consistency
  • Vigilant and safety-conscious

Experience is helpful but not essential—the right attitude and approach are key.

A driving licence is a bonus, but not essential.
