Lisa Marie is a lovely bubbly 50-year-old woman who lives with her brother Wayne and his family in Byker Newcastle Upon Tyne. Lisa has complex health issues with physical and mental disabilities. Lisa has epilepsy which is managed with medication and bowel issues that again is managed with medication. Lisa presents with developmental delay and as such has the mental capacity of an infant. Lisa is looking for a personal assistant to help support her, her brother and family with the daily care routines that he has developed to give Lisa stability and structured care. Lisa does attend a daycare centre 5 days per week so she is looking for a PA who can do short visits to support her brother with bathing routines and daycare preparation in the mornings for her. Lisa has observations carried out weekly which you would be required to assist with on the instruction and after  training from her brother who manages all of Lisa’s medications.

Lisa is non-verbal but she has developed her own way of communicating her needs using hand signals and vocal noises. Once you get to know Lisa you will quickly learn her prompts and signals. Lisa enjoys bath time and loves splashing around with her sensory toys. She enjoys a wide variety of music, but she has a soft spot for Barry Manilow, she also enjoys some of the more modern boybands but is not keen on rock or heavy metal music. Lisa really enjoys joining her brother on “road trips” in his van for family outings.

Lisa has a wicked sense of humour and loves people that are bubbly, outgoing and full of fun. She will laugh at you if you have a mishap, or you are being silly to keep her entertained. Lisa can be shy and take time to engage with you but once she feels comfortable with you, you will get to see her cheeky side. If you ever get the pleasure of meeting Lisa keep the crisps and chocolate at hand as Lisa is a true chocoholic and loves her Quavers.

This role will include full personal care and support with feeding when required.

The role involves the use of hoists and wheelchairs, so a good level of fitness is essential.

This role requires someone very flexible as the role requires a daily visit in the morning and early evening to assist Wayne with Lisa’s personal care. Days to be discussed.
