Hours: 4 hours per week (weekends only)

Rate of pay: £14.20 per hour

Location: Blakelaw, Newcastle

My name is Josh, I’m 15 years old, and I’m looking for someone fun, kind and patient to support me at home and out in the community.

I love being busy and going out. Some of my favourite things to do are going to soft play, trampoline parks and the cinema. I really enjoy going out for food, especially kebabs! At home I like colouring in, doing diamond art, watching YouTube and playing on my phone. I love listening to music and singing, and I find ambulances really fascinating. I’m a twin and I really enjoy going to school, which is an important part of my routine.

I have autism and sometimes I can find things tricky. I don’t like loud noises, even though I can make quite a lot of noise myself. There are times when I can become dysregulated, and this can lead to challenging behaviour, so I need someone who can stay calm, patient and understanding, and help me feel settled and safe again. I don’t like wearing a coat, so I will need prompting and encouragement to dress appropriately for the weather.

Your job would be to support me with my daily activities, join in with things I enjoy, help me manage my emotions, encourage my independence and make sure I’m safe and happy. It’s really important that you take time to get to know me and build a positive, trusting relationship with me.

I’m looking for someone who is kind, reliable and calm, who enjoys being active and spending time out in the community.

Daniel is a delightful happy 13-year-old lad with a great smile who lives with his dad in the west end of Newcastle. He loves being active and likes to be out and about and enjoys going to the beach, trampolining, swimming, and going to the park especially being on the swings. Daniel also loves travelling on public transport whether it’s the buses or the Metro. He is a big fan of water and is happiest spending time in his hot tub at home. Daniel is very stimulated with cause-and-effect games for example, when at the beach he loves to throw stones in the water just to see the splash.

Daniel has epilepsy which occurs in clusters and training will be provided to pre-empt these. He also has vestibular sensory balance which simply, makes him feel as if he is at sea constantly, he is also non-verbal, but he understands what you say and claps to communicate. Daniel has no awareness of danger, and the PAs will constantly need to be vigilant when with him and on occasions use his reins.

Ideally, dad would like PAs who are enthusiastic with a genuine interest and enjoyment in working with children and have some experience of working with disabled children.

A car driver in this role would be preferred but not essential and mileage would be reimbursed.
