Job Title:  Female Personal Assistant

Hours:  Monday-Friday 12 hours per week to be discussed.

Payrate:  £13.00 per hour

Location:  Walkersville, Newcastle Upon Tyne

 

Purpose of Job I have a long-term health condition that affects my mobility (due to pain) and energy levels. Therefore, the purpose of this job is to provide me with the support I require to ensure the smooth running of my home and be able to spend time with all my children. Myself and my husband currently works from home, and we would expect consideration when carrying out duties regarding noise levels.

My home is a busy lively one, we have three children and a dog.  As my Personal Assistant your job will be to provide the domestic assistance around the home that I sometimes need.

My personal assistant will work under my direction to meet my needs and will be accountable to me in all aspects of your work. I require a high level of hygiene and cleanliness and someone who is methodical in their approach to the cleaning tasks.

You should always ask first what my needs are and should always listen to and act on my requests and directions.  I prefer that my assistance is given by a woman who must be reliable and able to work flexible hours.  She must also be able to respect my privacy and understand the need for confidentiality in all areas of her work.

Good general health is important as I need help with everyday lifting and carrying.

Main Duties

My Personal Assistant will be expected to do the following tasks.  Some tasks are daily, others weekly or monthly.

As my needs will vary it is important that the personal assistant is flexible about what the work involves and agrees to undertake any other reasonable Personal Assistance tasks that I request.

Personal Assistance for myself

  • Assisting with preparing meals
  • Shopping and assistance with shopping
  • Assistance with household management unpacking, fetching, and carrying
  • General Cleaning.
  • General Housework (changing bedding, hoovering, etc.)

Training

There are no formal qualifications needed to do this job.  For the most part of the tasks and assistance involved can be learned through the personal assistant and I working together.  I am the person best qualified to know what my needs are and how they are best met.

Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged, and the personal assistant will be expected to attend.

Irem is a lovely 9-year-old who lives at home with her parents and sisters.  The family are Kurdish and follow the Kurdish Alevi religion. A knowledge of the Turkish Language would be advantageous.

Irem has difficulties with the three core areas of development associated with a diagnosis of autism, social communication, social interaction, and flexible imaginative play.  Her receptive and expressive language is extremely limited, and she becomes frustrated and annoyed when an adult does not understand her needs. At school, Irem uses a combination of pecs and individual words. However, she has become a lot more verbal over recent months and is able to communicate her needs using single words. She has limited awareness of safety. She can sometimes be unpredictable and needs a high level of supervision to keep her safe. Irem has difficulties using the toilet and needs support with personal care.

Irem enjoys being outside and having a lot of space, she enjoys going to the local parks. She also enjoys trampolining. As Irem’s PA you would be required to support and assist Irem to engage in her chosen activities. Irem loves painting and is quite an artist, she also enjoys music. She is a total chocoholic and just loves all chocolate. She is in her happy place with chocolate and paints. Irem attends swimming lessons and enjoys her time in the pool. Irem would like to visit the Tim Lamb Centre or Alan Shearer Centre with her PA.

Irem’s parents would like to employ a PA who has experience of working with children with additional needs and challenging behaviour.

Subhan is a very happy outgoing 26-year-old young man who loves people. He lives with his parents and sister in Gosforth, Newcastle Upon Tyne, they also have two house bunnies who are adorable. Subhan has another sister who has recently had a baby and Subhan is now an uncle to a lovely little boy and loves his new role as an uncle. Subhan is a real “Joker” and loves to make people laugh, he is the first to begin Christmas celebrations and you will know when it begins as he dresses his vision cane with tinsel, bells and stickers and will often wear his elf hat, fun is his main game so if you do not enjoy fun this is not the role for you!

Subhan is a keen artist and spends a lot of time drawing on his iPad, he has produced some amazing artwork. He loves music and is often on his guitar or his karaoke machine. His music genres vary from Bollywood to Clubland and anything in-between.

Subhan has a rare genetic disorder called Bardet-Biedl Syndrome which causes visual impairment, developmental delay, and various other health complications. Subhan has no personal care needs.

Subhan currently attends college 3 days a week where he is studying IT, Art, and Stage Craft and as such requires a PA who can support him in a classroom setting. The role would involve attending the lessons with Subhan and reiterating all information from the lessons to Subhan so he can complete the lessons effectively.

Outside of college Subhan enjoys trips to the theatre, cinema, bowling alley and the Alan Shearer Centre where he loves to be in the Sensory Rooms. Subhan is keen to develop his independence on the public transport facilities particularly the metros and would love to start meeting up with his college associates for food and shopping ventures to develop his friendships outside of college. Subhan requires a social PA who can accompany him to his choice of activities and support him with all tasks that he may need assistance with. No two days will be the same with this guy, he’s a real “go getter and a dare devil” be prepared to be took to the Formula 1 track, he will try anything once.

Subhan really enjoys reality TV when he does not want to go out and particularly enjoys the Kardashians, he loves to mimic them all so you will often hear him using “catchphrases” from the shows he enjoys. He really is a happy, fun guy and you are guaranteed a great time with Subhan.

My personal assistant will need to build a trusting relationship with me and take me out to new and fun places.

You would support me in my home and at activities outside the home.

A car driver is essential for this role, you would be able to drive my mobility car – you would need to be over 25 for insurance purpose.

Experience of working with Children and knowledge of ASD and Cerebral Palsy is desirable, however for the right applicant we would be able to support with training.
