We are currently recruiting for an experienced personal assistant for a loving young boy with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and PICA. Due to this Jamie always requires full supervision as he will eat non-food items and has a compulsion regarding drinking.  He currently resides with his mum, dad and sibling and they have 3 dogs.  Jamie also has no awareness of danger and will run at every opportunity. This role would suit someone that has experience working with children with autism and is a necessary requirement.

Jamie enjoys a variety of sensory stimulating activities including trampolining, swimming and trips to the local parks. He would like to visit and explore new venues with enclosed spaces to widen his experiences within the community.  He uses a specialist buggy as and when required. Routine is very important to Jamie as he can dysregulate if sudden changes occur, and due to his non-verbal autism, he cannot tell you directly what is wrong.  Jamie uses hand gestures and leading to show and tell you his needs. Jamie does have meltdowns, so coping strategies to manage these must be demonstrated and implemented to ensure his safety.

The main tasks within this role will include supporting Jamie in accessing the local community, accompanying and supporting him to engage in his chosen activities and personal care including nappy changing.

We are preferably looking for a car driver with a full clean UK driving licence for this role, however, this is not essential as Jamie will use public transport and regularly enjoys trips on the metro.
