Hours:

Monday: 5.30 to 8.30, Monday Night Social

Tuesday: 4.14 to 7.15, Rebound Therapy

Wednesday:  4.15 to 7.45, Swimming, this shift is usually covered but cover may be needed occasionally

Saturday: 10.30 to 4.30

Shifts may change so a degree of flexibility is needed.

There are also 3x 5 hour shifts in school holidays, usually 10 to 3, days to be negotiated.

Driver: Desirable, though non drivers will be considered if prepared to take our son out on public transport.

Rates of Pay: £14.00 per hour

Meet Jacob – a sociable 14-year-old who loves great company and getting out into the world! Whether he’s at a local disco, bouncing through rebound therapy, or soaking up the sun at the seaside – Jacob is happiest when he’s on the move and surrounded by people.

We’re looking for two awesome support workers (you’ll be working 2:1) to help Jacob continue doing what he loves in a safe and supported way.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting Jacob at fun events like discos and social clubs
  • Splashing around at swimming and helping with rebound therapy
  • Going on Saturday adventures to parks, markets, beaches, and the odd café for a treat
  • Helping with transitions between activities and offering reassurance when things change
  • Communicating clearly and kindly – Jacob is nonverbal but understands everything and responds brilliantly to supported instructions

  • Diagnosed with Autism and a learning disability
  • Nonverbal but expressive, engaged, and communicative in his own way
  • Loves being part of the action – happy, social and curious

I am looking for a Personal Assistant to work with me or the current PA to provide 2:1 support to my 15-year-old son with Autism & ADHD, to allow him to get out in the community and participate in activities safely.

He is a happy, adventurous boy, an opportunist, inquisitive, highly active, who enjoys going out & about exploring many places and things. He loves going to town centres, home furniture shops, toilets, going swimming, the Alan Shearer Centre for sensory sessions, and adventure parks.

The role calls for 2 PAs who can work well as a team, stay calm under pressure who enjoys new challenges, are confident and are able to keep up with my son, as he is quick and always on the move.

Previous experience of supporting a young person who has Autism & ADHD, challenging behaviours, is essential, have excellent communication skills, problem solving skills, patience, caring, fun & active reliable, trustworthy, and willing to learn, so you understand him.

Someone who can drive and is willing to use their car for work is an essential requirement for the role. The usage of petrol will be reimbursed.

Part/Full Time Support Workers

Job Title:  Support Worker

Hourly Rate:  £12.21 during the hours of 7:00am-9:00pm.

Sleep in rate:  £9.25 (9:00pm-7:00am)

Area:  Newbiggin Hall, Newcastle

HoursTo work as part of a 24/7 care team on a shift rota basis

 

Purpose of the role

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting a gentleman in his early 40s. He is outgoing fun, polite and enjoys talking to others.

You will support him with his goals based within his home environment or local community.

Activities of support vary from daily living skills, personal care, teaching and development of independent life skills to assistance with accessing community-based activities such as going swimming, music cafe, and other social and leisure activities.

He has Microcephaly and this causes a number of complex difficulties and challenging behaviours. There is a very detailed care plan in place along with an individual MVA plan. These should be taken into account alongside the job description.

Experience of supporting adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism or complex behavioural needs is required.
