Location: Heworth, York

Hours: 8.5 hours per week

Rate of Pay: £12.71 per hour (min)

Home support required for a married Autistic woman, whose husband is currently hospitalised.  The support required is purely for the lady in question and would include, general light house chores, such as hoovering, changing towels, cleaning the bathroom and basic house maintenance.  The house is quite small, so the tasks are not overwhelming and there are no pets.  Some food preparation of a simplistic nature would be desirable as the employer has little time available to cook from fresh herself and likes to stock both her fridge and freezer.  In addition, time would be spent accompanying the employer to local shops when required and providing functional companionship.

Any applicant must be of a cheerful disposition, reliable and have some awareness of Autism/ADHD and therefore be flexible in their approach to both the employer and the hours worked (within reason).

Personal Assistant Wanted – 9 Hours a Week (York)

£12.71/hour (min) + mileage • Flexible • Teamwork • Learning Together

Driver Essential

Hi!

I’m looking for a friendly, reliable Personal Assistant who wants to work with me — not just for me.

Think of this as a small, supportive team of two where we help each other out, stay organised, and make day-to-day life run smoothly.

You don’t need years of experience — just the right attitude, a willingness to learn, and confidence using tech. If you enjoy problem-solving, organising, and working alongside someone in a relaxed, supportive way, this could suit you perfectly.

What the Job Is Like

We’ll be working together on tasks like:

  • Sorting admin, emails, notes, and online forms
  • Helping with reading and organisation (dyslexia support)
  • Using websites like York Council, NHS, Gov.uk (don’t worry — we learn them together!)
  • Driving me and my trained medical assistance dog to appointments
  • Giving a hand with small tasks, trips to the supermarket its mainly heavy lifting and helping me look for soy free food, you don’t need to be Delia Smith or Arnie.
  • Communicating clearly face-to-face — I lip-read, so it’s teamwork all the way

There’s no personal care, no meal prep — it’s mostly practical and admin support with a friendly, down-to-earth vibe.

Who You’ll Be Teaming Up With

  • Me: organised, independent, and good at explaining what I need — I just need someone who can support me with certain tasks and work alongside me.
  • My medical assistance dog: professional, adorable, takes their job very seriously.
  • A cat.

If you like dogs, this is a bonus.
If you love dogs, this is a perk.

Who This Could Suit

This role is great for someone younger who:

  • Likes organising things and problem-solving
  • Respectful at all times, with confidential matters.
  • Enjoys supporting others
  • Uses tech confidently (laptops, phones, websites)
  • Wants a flexible, low-stress job
  • Likes learning new things and being part of a small team
  • Is patient, kind, and communicates clearly

You don’t need to be perfect — just open, supportive, and willing to learn as we go.
