Personal Assistant (Support for a Teenage Girl with Autism & ADHD)

Location: York

Rate: £12.60 per hour

Hours: To be confirmed

We’re looking for a kind, patient, and creative person to support a bright and enthusiastic teenage girl who loves make-up, skincare, hair, nails, dogs, Lego Friends, crafts (especially Hama beads), music (Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter and more), Roblox, and TikTok. She is autistic and has ADHD and ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder). She’s full of energy and enthusiasm for the things she loves and enjoys chatting and sharing her interests with people she feels comfortable with.

She attends mainstream school, though she often finds this difficult, and can find larger social situations confusing or overwhelming. She values her friendships deeply but sometimes struggles to navigate them.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Build a positive, trusting relationship — starting with support in the home and gradually moving towards local outings and activities.
  • Encourage participation in fun, purposeful activities that match her interests.
  • Provide gentle, consistent support to help her develop confidence and independence at her own pace.

We would particularly welcome applicants who:

  • Have experience or understanding of how autism and ADHD can present in girls, or
  • Have lived experience that could make them a positive role model.

No personal care is required. This role is all about connection, understanding, and encouragement.

If you’re someone who’s warm, reliable, and genuinely enjoys engaging with young people in creative and meaningful ways, we’d love to hear from you.
