I am looking for a friendly and reliable Personal Assistant to provide occasional weekend support at art events.

About the Role

  • Supporting me at art events on an ad hoc basis (mainly weekends).
  • Helping with setting up and packing away displays.
  • Confidently talking to the public about my work and assisting when things get busy.
  • Being understanding and patient, with some knowledge of autism or a willingness to learn.

Who This Might Suit

  • Someone who enjoys art and creative environments.
  • Confident speaking with a wide range of people.
  • Possibly semi-retired, or someone looking for occasional extra work without a regular weekly commitment.

Personal Assistant for Noah

Location: York
Hours: 200 hours per year
Rate of Pay: £12.21 per hour

Noah is a fun-loving 7-year-old who will bring a smile to your face with his love for music, dancing, and all things Baby Shark. He enjoys being outdoors, exploring nature, and splashing about in the swimming pool.

Noah uses a wheelchair to keep him safe as he has no danger awareness and sometimes finds walking painful. He has talipes/club feet, tip-toe walks, and is currently having new splints made. Noah is Autistic, has Klinefelter syndrome, and is non-verbal — though he can repeat words and sing along to songs. He understands some simple instructions, responds well to an adult-led routine, and is making great progress with toilet training.

Your role will be to support Noah to access activities he enjoys, both at home and in the community, while keeping him safe and engaged. You’ll need to be confident in supporting a child who elopes, using safe supervision and holding hands when walking.

Duties include:

  • Supporting Noah with fun and engaging activities
  • Assisting with swimming, outdoor play, and music/dance time
  • Helping with mobility and wheelchair use
  • Supporting with toileting and personal care as needed
  • Providing a safe, structured, and positive environment

About you:
We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, caring, and able to follow Noah’s routine
  • Comfortable with personal care and toileting support
  • Confident in supervising a child with no danger awareness
  • Happy to be active and join in with music, dancing, and swimming
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work in partnership with Noah’s family

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs
  • Knowledge of communication strategies for non-verbal children

If you think you could be the right person to support Noah and help him enjoy the things he loves most, we’d love to hear from you.

With a great personality and a wicked sense of humour, Harvey loves trips to the cinema, zoos, farms, bowling, and the seaside.
