Disability North is a free Independent Living Service which promotes social inclusion, independence and choice for disabled and older people in the North East of England and Cumbria. Disability North is a user led registered charity which works with, and for, disabled people, empowering them to maximise the control they have over their own lives.
Our Service Team can provide information and advice on equipment and activities for daily living (ADL), benefits and Direct Payments as well as advising on many other aspects of disability and signposting to other organisations who can help.
Our Mission: Disability North promotes inclusion, independence and choice for disabled people in the region.

Marden High School Fundraising Week

Salary: £33,000 - £35,000 based on experience
Hours worked: 35 hours per week
We are seeking to recruit an individual with expertise in management, business, the voluntary sector and with in-depth understanding of disability related issues. The person will work in partnership with the Board of Trustees to provide vision and direction for Disability North while managing organisational changes to meet the demands of the current challenging economic climate.

Safeguarding Adults and The Law: A Practical Overview

This course will give you an overview of law relevant to safeguarding and how it underpins everyday practice – and enables interventions. Indulge yourself in an evening of luxury chocolates as international chocolatier Jane chronicles the history of chocolate. Embark on a unique chocolate tasting experience as she draws on her extensive training throughout Europe as an apprentice to Swiss chocolatier Phillipe Burger.
Exclusively this Easter, you will hear how Jane hand-crafts her famous, luxury Easter eggs using traditional Swiss methods.
Unwind, and savour luxury, artisan chocolates as you discover the art of chocolate-making, all in support of Disability North.

DNEX 2016 / Moving & Handling People North
We are delighted to announce that DNEX 2016 will take place at Newcastle Racecourse on the 21 and 22 September 2016. We hope you like the new DNEX logo (opposite).
DNEX 2016 will be co-located for the first time with Disabled Living Foundation's (DLF) Moving & Handling People North.
