Disability North is a free Independent Living Service which promotes social inclusion, independence and choice for disabled and older people in the North East of England and Cumbria. Disability North is a user led registered charity which works with, and for, disabled people, empowering them to maximise the control they have over their own lives.
Our Service Team can provide information and advice on equipment and activities for daily living (ADL), benefits and Direct Payments as well as advising on many other aspects of disability and signposting to other organisations who can help.
Our Mission: Disability North promotes inclusion, independence and choice for disabled people in the region.

DNEX 2015 - The Annual Exhibition of Disability North
Disability North is holding the North’s largest Independent Living Exhibition DNEX at Newcastle Racecourse on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th September 2015.
DNEX is a must attend event and there is something for everyone including digital technology, aids and adaptations for independent living and accessible leisure facilities. This free exhibition provides information, advice and equipment for disabled people, older adults, carers and health / social care professionals on a range of disability related issues.

This is a clinical and legal status which means people are entitled to have their health and social care needs met, free of charge, by the National Health Service (NHS Act 2006) – rather than by social services (Care Act 2014), whatever the setting - hospital, care home, hospice, own home, supported living.
