My son is a happy 14-year-old who loves slapstick humour. He really enjoys being outside just about anywhere if there are interesting things for him to see and he is on the move.

He likes going to Newcastle to look at the shops and to watch the street musicians just as much as going out to the coast or going to parks, National Trust properties, museums, and places like Beamish.

Other activities that he enjoys are going to the Alan Shearer centre, especially the hydro pool as he loves swimming and trampolining. He is always happy to try new things and broaden his interests. My son also enjoys eating out, his favourite place is Kentucky fried chicken for popcorn chicken and coleslaw. He also likes to travel on metros and buses.

Your role will be to support him to do the things that he enjoys either out in the community or in the home. This may be working alongside me and us both taking him out or you are supporting him by yourself.

When he’s at home he loves books and really enjoys listening to stories, he also loves music and watching his favourite programs on T.V (not for too long though!) and messy play.

My son needs help with all aspects of daily living. He mainly communicates using Pecs’s symbols and Makaton signs to tell you what he wants and needs. He can use some words and can understand things being said to him if it is put to him in a very direct and simple way.

Awareness of Diabetes and the ability to support administration of medication, training will be provided for the use of medication.

Guy is a lovely 17-year-old boy who is happy to attend school. He has a diagnosis of autism and developmental delay; he lives with his mum who is his main and sole carer. Guy has in the past suffered aggression towards himself and his mother when dysregulated however following several investigations and correct medication guy is now settled with no physical aggressive outbursts but can become dysregulated and emotionally upset and display anxiety, however activities he enjoys, and being outdoors can regulate him quickly and effectively.

Guy enjoys music therapy, spending time on his iPad and getting creative with his Arts and Crafts materials. Guy really enjoys being creative in the kitchen and loves nothing better than to bake his favourite cakes and biscuits. Guy is motivated by food and enjoys visiting restaurants.

Due to the nature of Guy’s health issues Guy needs regular consistent routines and can become dysregulated if new things are introduced too quickly so a patient Personal Assistant with an understanding of Autism and developmental delay is required. Guy is over 6ft tall and as such is extremely strong when he becomes dysregulated. This position would be best suited to a male personal assistant who has a good level of fitness.

Guy likes to visit the Alan Shearer Centre and the Tim Lamb Centre and up until recently really enjoyed horse riding, which he would potentially like to get back into.
